Ep. 76 NFTs, Pornstars, and Buttholes
Sunday Mar 27, 2022
Sunday Mar 27, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re checking in on the state of things in the world of NFTs.
It’s been about a year since we last spoke in depth about the ins and outs of non-fungible tokens and since then there have been a lot of developments. Some good, some bad and some just plain weird.
We begin this week with a rundown of some the latest stats and numbers surrounding the use of NFTs in purchasing digital content. You might be surprised to hear how many people (including big name celebrities) are purchasing NFTs and how they’re shaping the future of digital commerce. Sites like OpenSea.io are expanding accessibility to NFTs as well as growing a robust online marketplace.
That said, not all is perfect in the land of NFTs. In the last year there have been numerous “rug pull” scams, where sellers have suddenly backed out of deals after being paid – leaving purchasers holding the bag and also holding a worthless NFT. One of the more recent and particularly egregious “rug pull” scams happened a couple months ago when porn star Lana Rhoades ran off with $1.5 million from the sales of her own custom NFT collection. Her actions left numerous buyers holding worthless NFTs and unable to recoup their losses.
We wrap up this week’s episode with a look at a recent sale of NFTs from a collection called “Le Bel Anus”. This NFT collection of 2,000 digital images of porn star buttholes was sold online earlier this month and quite frankly, we can’t stop giggling about it. Tune in to hear our first impressions of the unusual collection as well as how the sales were pitched, who made the money and the “perks” buyers were promised.
Although NFTs have seemingly gotten weirder and wilder, we feel it’s safe to say they’re here to stay.

Ep. 75 Q-Spotting
Sunday Mar 20, 2022
Sunday Mar 20, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re doing a little bit of Q-Spotting. It’s been about 6 months since we last checked in on the cult known as Qanon and it’s safe to say they’re still around and still up to no good.
We begin our rounds with a story time chat involving a recent encounter with a member of the 3 Percenter Movement. We’ll give you the scoop on some of the symbols being used by this particular alt-right militia group as well as some of their extremist beliefs.
Next we visit The People’s Convoy, a group of truckers and other MAGA worshipping “Gravy Seals” currently harassing the people of Washington DC. Inspired by the trucker protests in Canada, The People’s Convoy crossed the country on a mission to do something similar. No one really knows what they planned to do, including their own members, but we guess they’re doing it? Who knows.
Lastly, we’re absolutely appalled by recent Qanon conspiracies finding their way into the main stream yet again. In fact, old Tucker Carlson at Fox News is on the forefront of spreading some of these conspiracies and it’s why Republicans are suddenly siding with Russia on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. It’s insanity and it’s anything but actual journalism. And yes, we visited the disgusting cesspool of 4chan to confirm the origins of these ridiculous, hate-filled, racist and backwards theories. We went there so you don’t have to. Please send bleach.

Ep. 74 Building Blox
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re exploring the online game platform and game creation system known as Roblox.
Geared primarily towards children, the platform has been around for well over a decade and at first glance seems relatively innocuous. On the surface it’s simply a place to create and play games. But further investigation reveals a gaming platform fraught with problematic issues, including the exploitation of children.
By design, the Roblox system makes the creation of content appealing by offering users real money in exchange for their game builds. But also by design, the system makes cashing out earned revenue incredibly difficult and downright confusing. Needless to say, out of millions of creators, only a few hundred actually earn enough money from their Roblox builds to call it a living wage job. It some ways the Roblox system resembles an MLM setup or a pyramid scheme.
We argue that even if you’re not a parent or caregiver of a child using the platform, it’s worth knowing what’s happening on Roblox because in all likelihood these practices are coming to a platform you use. Unfortunately, children are the guinea pigs suffering exploitation at the hands of corporations like Roblox as the practices are further fine-tuned to eventually be geared towards adults.
So tune in to to learn what to look out for as we take a deep dive into the corrupt building blox of Roblox.

Ep. 71 Climbing Over Bodies
Sunday Feb 20, 2022
Sunday Feb 20, 2022
This week on The Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re summiting the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. Ok so, we’re not actually climbing the mammoth mountain, but we’re discussing many people who have.
What makes a person want to take on such an extreme and deadly venture? We don’t have all the answers, but we sure can speculate.
Not all who attempt to reach the top of Mt. Everest make it back down safely. In fact, there are hundreds of bodies scattered along the ridge lines, many of which are visible to climbers as they make their way up.
Tune in as we talk about this perilous section of the mountain known as “the dead zone” and the mindset necessary for trekking past the frozen corpses of those who climbed before you.
Stick around to the end of this week’s episode as we examine the parallels between the behavior of Everest climbers and the endless “freedumb fighters” of the pandemic. Their similarities are striking, considering both are hell-bent on reaching the top even if it means climbing over bodies.

Ep. 70 Satellite of Love
Sunday Feb 13, 2022
Sunday Feb 13, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re falling madly, deeply, head over heels in love. Nah, not really, but we’re talking a lot about love this week since it’s Valentine’s Day.
We start this week’s adventure with a nod to our friend Lou Reed and his epic love ballad, “Satellite of Love”. Oh how we wish we had a budget for our show. You’ll just have to use your imagination along with us (and the link below) – we promise it’ll be worth it.
Tune in as we give you a crash course in the history and origins of this touchy-feely, buy-all-the-candy holiday. For example, why are there 2 very different depictions of Cupid in historical tales? Are they even the same guy? Is one cooler than the other?
Plus, hear why Pope Gelasius wanted to replace the naked fish-slapping Roman festival called Lupercalia with a tamer Saint Valentines Day Feast. What’s wrong with naked fish-slapping, exactly?
You’ll be sure to laugh as you stick around til the end of this love-filled episode to hear your favorite Snowflakes answer a few questions about love and relationships. Hear our opinions on what makes relationships work and whether the notion of “soulmates” is realistic. Our answers may surprise you!

Ep. 69 Nice!
Sunday Feb 06, 2022
Sunday Feb 06, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re paying tribute to all things “69” in celebration of releasing our 69th episode.
That’s right. We’ve turned out an incredible 69 (Nice!) episodes and we couldn’t be prouder. And what better way to say “Good job, Snowflakes!” than by sharing some interesting, unusual and somewhat cringe-worthy facts about the number 69?
For example, do you know which country boasts the only skyscraper built with 69 floors? Or how about which U.S. city is 69th in population size? Better yet, what does the Kama Sutra call the position known as “69-ing” (and why are crows involved)?
Tune in to hear the answers to these questions PLUS MORE as we hilariously discuss all things 69 (Nice!) in honor of reaching our great 69th episode.

Ep. 68 Humorous Headlines
Sunday Jan 30, 2022
Sunday Jan 30, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’ve hand selected some of our favorite national news headlines from this week to share with our fantastic listeners. In case you didn’t notice, this week’s news was exceptional in the world of irony and absurdity—to the point that we found ourselves laughing out loud on several occasions and realized we simply HAD to talk about it.
From the US military losing a stealth jet in the China sea (oops?), to Governor Jim Justice of West Virginia telling Bette Midler to kiss his dog’s ass, to Florida issuing a winter warning for flying frozen iguanas, this week was absolutely filled to the brim with stories that made us wonder whether The Onion had become real life.
By the way, North Carolina’s disgraced former Governor, Pat McCrory, is back in headlines and he’s just as delusional now as he was in 2016 when he tried to make us all show our junk to use public restrooms.
So tune in to hear our take on these stories plus more as we share our favorite humorous headlines of the week!

Ep. 67 Am I Homophobic?
Sunday Jan 23, 2022
Sunday Jan 23, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re getting honest with ourselves and our listeners. Why? Because sometimes the hardest conversations are the most needed. We invite you to listen and to start a conversation of your own.
This episode was inspired by the MTV show “Catfish”...well, sort of. We happen to be huge fans of the show and were recently made aware of our own internal biases while trying to choose which episodes to watch.
The average person might hold the same biases we do, but they may never pause to question them. Luckily for us (and you), we’re anything but average.
Tune in to hear what exactly transpired during our “Catfish” episode search and to hear an honest conversation as we try to answer the question, “Am I homophobic?”
