Ep. 66 Just Andrew Now
Sunday Jan 16, 2022
Sunday Jan 16, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re filing a petition to replace the Diddler of York, Prince Andrew---with ourselves. Can we do a better job of being the Queen’s son than Andy? Does a Sasquatch shit in the woods? Obviously.
Longtime listeners of our show know that we have a deep appreciation for all things British and that we’ve been on a quest for knighthood for a few years now. Since Prince Andrew was recently stripped of his military titles and royal patronage by his own mom, we figure now is our chance to act. Surely the Queen will hear us out.
That said, a little investigative work on our end has uncovered the need for us, the Carolina Snowflakes, to become British citizens. Tune in to hear what steps we’ll be taking to make this happen. No doubt you’ll enjoy listening to our quintessentially American opinions on how to get around some of the more demanding and excessive requirements of UK immigration laws. We’re a shoo-in, no worries.
Lastly, stick around to hear our answers to the UK Citizenry Test. Every prospective new resident of the UK must pass the test in order to officially become a British citizen. Will we pass? Will we be able to make our case to the Queen to replace her loathsome son? Tune in to find out!

Ep. 65 Our Time Capsule Episode
Sunday Jan 09, 2022
Sunday Jan 09, 2022
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re exploring the exciting and historically nerdy world of time capsules. The vessels meant to house our most precious artifacts sometimes yield unexpected surprises once opened decades down the road.
Such was the case with the recent discovery of 2 confederate-era time capsules extracted from a gigantic Robert E. Lee monument in Richmond last month. What was found within the 2 time capsules was not what historians expected. Tune in to hear how the 2 boxes were located, why 1 was perhaps an epic troll by the monument creators, and what each contained.
Then stick around to hear an unusual story about a time capsule in a car buried in 1957 by the residents of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Things didn’t quite go as planned when the time capsule car was unearthed 50 years later in 2007, but it made for an entertaining story nonetheless. Those Tulsans have a sense of humor.
And lastly, stick around to hear what we, the Carolina Snowflakes, would place in a time capsule of our own. What do we think most represents the era and climate we’re living in? And what would we want our future selves to remember about the important moments in our recent history?
Tune in to hear it all in this week’s historically nerdy and laugh-out-loud time capsule episode!

Ep. 64 Political Holi-Daze
Sunday Dec 19, 2021
Sunday Dec 19, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re cooking up a storm with our unique mix of political chatter and Holiday celebrations. Yes, combining politics with the holidays is akin to mixing oil and water, but if anyone can do it, we can.
First, join us as we check in with former Chief of Staff (and our former congressman), Mark Meadows. The guy is in deep doo with Congress, the DOJ and even former President Trump -- and we’re here for it. How did the guy who once represented our neck of the woods get himself in such a mess? We’ll tell you all about it!
Then stick around as we hash out the good, the bad and the ugly of 2021 as we do a political year in review. And what good would looking backwards be if we didn’t also look to the future? Hear our predictions on what we think is going to go down in 2022.
Lastly, we wrap up this entertaining episode with a segment called “If Santa was a Republican”. Tune in to hear what we think Christmas would look like if old Saint Nick was a MAGA-voting member of the GOP. Be ready to laugh your fuzzy socks off!
P.S. Your favorite Snowflakes will be taking a couple weeks off to spend time with our families this holiday season, but don’t fret because we’ll be back and ready to delight your ears in 2022. We hope you, our listeners, have a very safe and happy holiday and we thank you for taking the time to listen every week.

Ep. 63 Tik Tok Tech Talk
Sunday Dec 12, 2021
Sunday Dec 12, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re going deep into the trenches of the rapidly growing social media app, Tik Tok. This episode could also be called “Tik Tok for old people” and in this case, we are the old people.
It’s safe to say we learned a lot during this deep dive and we’re here to share our hilariously engaging bounty of knowledge. We’re also here to answer very important questions. Such as, how has this video sharing app grown to nearly the size of Facebook in only 3 years of existence? Something that took Zuckerberg nearly a decade to achieve is now within reach of Tik Tok’s parent company, Bytedance.
Also, given that Tik Tok is the most popular Chinese-owned social media app in the U.S. what are the implications for privacy protections afforded to American citizens? In a rare moment of bipartisan unity, both sides of congress have agreed that the app poses potential risks.
Tune in to hear what these risks are, plus a brief history of how the social media app began and the tactics deployed to keep its young users hooked.

Ep. 62 When Being Right Feels Bad
Sunday Dec 05, 2021
Sunday Dec 05, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re checking in on the state of things around us. After recently losing a loved one to COVID-19 and the announcement of the new Omicron variant, we thought it was time to get serious for a few minutes while we examine how things are going with the global pandemic – and where they’re likely heading in the future.
We’ve been right before and it feels bad.
Be sure to stick around as we’re also checking in on a few of our favorite smooth-brained Republican representatives. Honestly y’all, it’s like they just can’t help but be terrible people.
You know what isn’t terrible though? Us and our zany ideas. Tune in to hear what we think Pelosi should do with the $60,000 in fines collected from anti-masker Marjorie Taylor Greene. We’d love to see this idea come to fruition and we know you will too!

Ep. 61 Gay Frogs And Crisis Actors: The Alex Jones Story
Sunday Nov 28, 2021
Sunday Nov 28, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re diving deep into the bizarro world of conspiracy theory talk show host, Alex Jones.
Jones was recently subpoenaed to testify before congress in relation to his involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot. This development, plus a recent court order finding Jones liable for damages to the families of Sandy Hook Elementary got us wondering more about the wacky person behind Infowars.
Specifically, how did such a strange guy get to be so successful? And why do millions of people buy into his endlessly bogus BS?
Tune in to hear about his rise to infamy and his subsequent fall from social media fame… plus everything in between.
Stick around to the end to hear your favorite Snowflakes’ armchair psychoanalysis of Jones and others like him – specifically why writing him off as just another “crazy person” isn’t necessarily the smartest move.
Get comfy, tuck into your favorite snack and TUNE IN because you do not want to miss this!

Ep. 60 Metaverse Monstrosities
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re diving into the bizarre world of Mark Zuckerberg’s new pet project, Meta. In late October it was announced that Facebook would be getting a name change and along with this name change will come a new type of online experience. Behold, the Metaverse.
To promote his company’s new undertaking, Zuckerberg put out an hour long video in which he describes his company’s new endeavor. Though none of it even exists yet, the Zuck wants us all on board to support what theoretically might be reality some day… maybe.
No worries, we watched the robot lizardman’s video so you don’t have to. Not only is he creepy and weird during the entire recording, he opens up about some of his personal interests and it gets even weirder. Tune in to hear all about it.
We find the timing of the release of Marks video a bit suspect considering it happened right on the heels of congressional testimony by former Facebook employee turned whistleblower, Frances Haugen.
Was the Zuck trying to distract from what Frances shared? Probably.
Did it work? Not at all.
In fact, join us as we go over some of the incredible revelations about how rotten Facebook really is as shared by Frances during her testimony. The best part of her whistleblower account is that Frances had the wherewithal to bring the receipts, literally. Thousands of pages of evidence was produced showing that Facebook’s own internal investigations revealed how their algorithms contributed to the rise in extremist views among users and eventually led to the January 6th insurgency in Washington DC.
In case you were wondering, Instagram isn’t getting off the hook either. Frances brought documentation showing how the picture-sharing app has been destroying the self esteem of teenagers for years.
Tune in to hear all this plus MORE as we go deep into these Metaverse Monstrosities.

Ep. 59 Did Brandon Go?
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re taking on the right’s ridiculous new slogan, “Let’s Go Brandon”. We’re answering questions such as: where did this catchy saying originate? Why is it on everything from signs to t-shirts to ugly red dresses? And most importantly, was that the best they could come up with?
Tune in to learn the answers to these questions and to hear our hilarious takes on several other current events highlighted in the news recently; stories such as Aaron Rodgers going full-blown horse-paste-eating-woo-certified. Who knew the legendary football star was a pants shitting nut?
Better yet, who knew Prince Harry was basically America’s Batman? The Prince warned of the January 6th insurgency before it even happened, y’all. All hail Harry! Tune in to hear the full story and to hear our guesses as to whether or not Harry will become our nation’s new superhero.
So catch up with us as we catch up with what’s happening in the world in this week’s politically charged and snowflakey episode, “Did Brandon Go?”

Ep. 58 The Truth Is Out There
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re on the search for the truth because we heard it’s out there.
This episode is inspired in large part by the book “Bewilderment” by Richard Powers, in which the main character of the novel, an astrobiologist, writes code that helps investigate the potential conditions for life on other planets.
Powers' novel got us seriously contemplating something called The Fermi Paradox – named after Italian-American physicist Enrico Fermi. The Fermi Paradox is the apparent contradiction between the lack of evidence for extraterrestrial life despite high estimates for their probability (the Drake Equation).
Simply put, where the hell are the aliens?
Join us as we speculate (hilariously) as to where the aliens might be and as we take wild guesses as to why they’re probably avoiding us.
That said, perhaps they aren’t avoiding us at all and maybe they sometimes stop by to visit--at least that’s the word on the street from the Pentagon. In June of 2021, the pentagon released a formal assessment of 144 UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) reported by military personnel over the last several years. Something that had been denied by the feds for decades is now out in the open for all to see – yep, we’ve got UFOs.
Tune in to hear what we found in their report and to hear which U.S. states have had the most UFO sightings in history – you might be surprised to learn which one of the Carolinas made the top 10.

Ep. 57 RIP Internet Explorer
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we’re saying farewell to Internet Explorer (IE). Once the most used Internet browser in history, IE has most definitely seen better days. To be honest, the “little blue e” hasn’t seen a good day in quite some time and as a result, Microsoft is officially pulling the plug on IE in 2022.
For us Snowflakes, IE was the birthplace of our earliest internet explorations. Being that we’re old enough to remember life before the internet, but still young enough that the internet has very much become a part of our everyday lives, we have something of a unique experience.
Join us as we reminisce on our youthful exploration of the “wild west” of early Internet browsing. Hear tales of our dabbling in Geocities, Yahoo Answers, Ask Jeeves and the late, but not-so-great social media precursor called Friendster. We chatted, we Livejournaled, we swam with the catfishes before Catfishing was even a thing. And we did it all, in great part, thanks to Internet Explorer.
Tune in and join us as we pour one out and pay our respects to Internet Explorer.
